here's a phrase prefix that certain women use that's always annoyed me:
"As a woman..."
really? as opposed to your perspective as a man or an emu?
it's the kind of feminist claptrap doublespeak that doesn't mean anything but is supposed to imply some sort of moral authority to whatever the opinion is. Women who use this tend to either be 40+ year old holdovers with 5 cats, probably with an old poster of Bella Abzug still on the living room wall
Stop doing that.
You only have one perspective, no need to qualify it.

oh give me land (lots of land) and a starry sky above
don't fence me in
let me ride over yonder through the country that I love
don't fence me in
I want to ride to the ridge where the west commences
and gaze at the moon until I lose my senses
I can't stand hobbles and I can't stand fences
don't fence me in

I moved away from a meat-intensive diet a few years ago and while I wouldn't claim to be a vegetarian, it is how I eat 6 days out of every seven.
I think my gastrointestinal tract appreciates the change - particularly since my weight-training requires a diet rich in protein - and I know my sphincter certainly does, since my thrice-daily poops are no longer the size and consistency of cinder blocks.

where's the novacain?
I still enjoy a tasty burger and only Communists hate bacon, so it's not like I'm anti-meat or anything. Nevertheless, it's a switch I'm glad I made.

Over the past few months, I've taken to listening to KIXI Seattle on the AM radio. I love those old school crooners and lyricists...it makes today's music sound like old cat turds.

Today I told me boss that if he doesn't move me to a position where I'm less "interactive" with the public, I'm liable to say something I won't regret.
I've been dealing with the public since 1990 and I'm tired of it. They can all go suck a dead dog's nose.

Situation awareness (SA) involves being aware of what is happening around you to understand how information, events, and your own actions will impact your goals and objectives, both now and in the near future.[tone] Lacking SA or having inadequate SA has been identified as one of the primary factors in accidents attributed to human error (e.g., Hartel, Smith, & Prince, 1991; Merket, Bergondy, & Cuevas-Mesa, 1997; Nullmeyer, Stella, Montijo, & Harden, 2005).

When the fact that I'm going to turn 50 in two and a half years crosses my mind (which it rarely does thanks to the awesome power of denial), I tend to think of it with an air of "what-a-mildly-interesting-theory" detachment.
It's not that I don't understand that it's fast approaching, or that I hate the thought of it. It's more that I'm just not feeling that old physically - and more significantly - emotionally.
From what I understand, it's a common phenomenon but it begs the question:
When do people start thinking of themselves as their physical age?
Do most octogenarians have difficult reconciling the wrinkled old fart in the mirror with the vibrant youthful person in their brain?

On average, for years now, each night's sleep consists of a series of two hour naps punctuated with trips to the bathroom to urinate.
Last night I managed two 4-hour sessions with only one pee trip, so I'm feeling far more rested than usual.
What the hell am I gonna do with a surfboard?

I've never been one for New Year's resolutions. I don't see why January 1st is any more significant that December 17th or July 3rd...if you want to make a change, just make the damn change.
Anything less is just procrastination.

Christopher's Horoscopes for 2011
Aries: the sign of the Ram, you'll soon become one with your sign when a Dodge truck logo ends up embedded in your forehead while you cross the street.
Taurus: prepare for some hot sex when you're kidnapped and raped by a pyromaniac
Gemini: I bet you're as surprised as the rest of us that you've lived long enough to read this. Not to worry though, the stars predict that this is the year you're stuffed into an old refrigerator and buried in a New Jersey landfill.
Cancer: expect one of those sneaky Libras to screw you over in March.
Leo: peace and contentment are featured prominently in other people's lives. Try to live vicariously through them as you eke out your cold, lonely existence.
Virgo: Just calm the fuck down. Seriously.
Libra: March is a great month for screwing over any Cancers you happen to know.
Scorpio: the sign of smoldering sexuality, this year you'll be known just for smoldering after you spontaneously combust on a crowded city bus.
Sagittarius: your pee isn't supposed to be that color. Go see your doctor.
Capricorn: your desire for more money comes true when you're assaulted and beaten by a mugger using rolls of quarters tied off in a sock.
Aquarius: omg!
Pisces: your natural gift for pissing people off results in an extended hospital stay, where you'll contract TB from a filthy catheter
